CareerWise
A Career and Social Skills Group
for People with Diverse Abilities and Interests
As a part of QSAC’s network of skill development groups, we launched CareerWise in July 2019. This group provides support, guidance, networking opportunities, and training for individuals with disabilities who are currently employed or are searching for employment. CareerWise is a free service and meets on a bi-weekly basis.
The group provides individuals with disabilities with an opportunity socialize with others while also taking part in an array of training workshops on topics such as communication in the workplace, resume and cover letter preparation, interview and networking skills, teamwork, customer service skills, advocating for your rights in the workplace, and other skills that are important to ensure success as you pursue your career. CareerWise also provides a safe space for individuals to ask questions and discuss situations that come up at work.
In addition to the workshops and discussions, the group hosts guest speakers from an array of industries who offer brief presentations on their careers. After the presentation, the guest speaker takes part in a question and answer session, so that members of the group can learn more about the speaker’s career.
