Letter from QSAC's CEO in Honor of Direct Support Professional Recognition Week

The week of September 12-18, 2021 marks Direct Support Professional Recognition Week. This nationally celebrated week of appreciation seeks to highlight the important work that you do as direct support professionals (DSPs) every day in service to the people we serve.

This year, we are especially grateful for the service of our DSPs amidst the challenges of the ongoing pandemic. The resourcefulness, passion, and creativity of our DSPs has a life-changing impact on the lives of thousands of children and adults with autism and their families throughout New York City and Long Island.


At QSAC, we will mark this week of recognition through an array of staff appreciation events at each site. While September 12-18, 2021 marks a formal opportunity for recognizing your hard work and dedication, we strive to create a culture that celebrates your commitment every day.


I also want to take this opportunity to restate our commitment to supporting your professional growth and development within QSAC. As an organization, we are renewing our commitment to supporting DSPs in developing the skills and acquiring the training to advance into additional positions within the agency. While many of these opportunities have been in place for some time (e.g. tuition reimbursement, staff training), we will be introducing several new initiatives to support your career advancement.


QSAC is forever grateful for your service this week and every week in service to the autism community. During this challenging time, you continue to have a measurable and meaningful impact on the lives of so many people.
