At QSAC, we understand that transitioning from school to adulthood can be difficult. We offer specialized transition services to help students achieve their post-secondary goals, including pre-employment transition services (pre-ETS) through our contract with ACCES-VR.
Servicios de transición previa al empleo
A través de nuestro contrato con ACCES-VR, proporcionamos servicios de transición previos al empleo (pre-ETS) a jóvenes elegibles y potencialmente elegibles. Si un caso es elegible o potencialmente elegible depende de si el estudiante tiene un caso abierto con ACCES-VR. Si el estudiante no lo tiene, podemos ayudar a coordinar los servicios y proporcionar apoyo sin necesidad de abrir un caso. Los servicios Pre-ETS ofrecidos por QSAC incluyen:
- Job Exploration Counseling: This service can include various activities that help eligible students with career-related issues and planning. QSAC’s career development team members work with youth and individuals currently enrolled in an accredited educational program seeking to explore career options. It’s offered in various settings – in small groups and individually, in person, and virtually. It’s intended to foster motivation, consideration of opportunities, and informed decision-making. Real-world activities reinforce the relevance of high school and post-secondary education. QSAC uses various web-based resources in conjunction with other meaningful activities focused on supporting students in clarifying their vocational identity and developing a career plan.
- Post-Secondary Counseling: This service is designed for youth with disabilities to support them in exploring and pursuing post-secondary education and employment opportunities. The service will help students develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to plan for their future and achieve their goals. The service will also provide information and guidance on various resources and supports, such as ACCES-VR, OPWDD, OMH, FAFSA, and others.
- Self-Advocacy Training: This training equips students with disabilities with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in various settings. Students will learn about self-advocacy, self-determination, social skills, workplace communication, and relevant laws protecting their rights. They will also explore techniques for emotional regulation, stress management, and increased awareness of available resources. By the end of the course, students will have the skills and knowledge needed to advocate for themselves effectively, communicate effectively in the workplace, succeed in their IEP meetings, manage their emotions and stress, and access available resources to support their success.
- Formación de preparación para el trabajo para desarrollar habilidades sociales y habilidades de vida independiente: Esta formación está diseñada para dotar a los estudiantes de las habilidades necesarias para tener éxito en el competitivo mercado laboral. Los estudiantes aprenderán a identificar y demostrar habilidades blandas esenciales como el trabajo en equipo, la actitud positiva, la comunicación y las habilidades sociales, la toma de decisiones, la resolución de problemas, el pensamiento crítico, la gestión del tiempo y el liderazgo. Además, aprenderán a crear currículos y cartas de presentación que destaquen sus puntos fuertes, a aplicar técnicas de entrevista eficaces, a utilizar estrategias de búsqueda de empleo como redes, redes sociales, referencias, etc., y a comprender las expectativas y responsabilidades de ser un empleado, como la puntualidad, la asistencia, el código de vestimenta, la ética y el rendimiento. Al final del curso, los estudiantes estarán bien equipados para tener éxito en el mercado laboral.
